New promo video for Bad is Bad

I just uploaded a short video we made to air on a TV show, in which me and Chris talk about the making of Bad.  There is some behind the scenes footage included in it as well.

Check it out -

In other news, Chris and I have finished the basic plot and character outlines for our next feature. Unlike Bad is Bad, this movie is an ensemble piece, and very fast paced. If we get enough resources together to pull this thing off, it is going to be one hell of a movie.

The next step for us is to make several more sweeps through the outline, making it more and more detailed. We'll include very detailed character arcs and beat by beat descriptions of how each scene will play out. Before we start typing the actual screenplay, we'll determine how many pages each scene should end up being, that way we don't get too indulgent. We learned a lot about structure and pacing from Bad and the other screenplays we've written, and we intend to make this movie very tight, while still leaving room for a lot of Oh Good weirdness. Did I say this is going to be a hell of a movie?

By the way, this is our 100th blog post! Go eat some cake, you've got an excuse now.

New Bad is Bad review from Film Threat

Maybe our best review yet, Film Threat just gave Bad is Bad 4.5 out of 5 stars! We're currently on their front page, but you can check out the article here -

We should have another online piece about the movie coming out this week. In the meantime, don't forget to follow us on Twitter: twitter.com/Kent_OhGood

Ellis in Lincoln

Congrats to Ellis Noble, who played Shane in Bad and was also our sound man. He'll be in Steven Spielberg's new movie about Abraham Lincoln (which is filming in Richmond this fall), as a Confederate soldier. We're not sure if he's to be an extra or have a small speaking part, but either way, the rest of Oh Good looks forward to badgering him about how Daniel-Day Lewis works once it starts shooting, since we are all slightly obsessed with the man. Give those Yankees hell, Ellis!

Kent and Chris coming to SoCal television, and our next project

INdTV is an on demand channel through Time Warner Cable in Southern California, which also has a 30 minute show on a regular channel. They will be showcasing Bad is Bad on their program with the trailer as well as a 3.5 minute segment of me and Chris talking about the movie. The show will be pointing viewers to the website where they can watch it online. We're very excited to get the added publicity, and for Bad to get its first TV appearance! It should air in 3-4 weeks, we'll upload it or provide a link after it airs.

Speaking of Bad, today I finally finished fixing the "dead pixel" issue in the movie, and uploaded the fixed version in slightly higher quality to Vimeo (this version is still on the same page).

And some very exciting news: Chris and I have begun working on a new feature length screenplay...which we may end up filming this summer. It is based on the concept and characters from the short film mentioned about 5 posts back. The idea was too good to waste on a short when it could possibly be made into a very good feature as well. We're still early in the writing process, so only time will tell if this expanded version is strong enough to be our next feature... but we're feeling very good about this one.

New editing dream machine

Oh Good now has a brand new, custom editing computer. After doing the final cut of Bad is Bad on my school laptop, this machine is a breath of fresh air. It used to take me 6 hours to export 20 minutes of Bad; on this computer it takes 18 minutes, and it is in much higher quality. The computer is hooked up to our 50" HDTV, which also makes editing much more enjoyable.

Since we have this new computing power, I'm going back into the movie and fixing the "dead pixel" issue that some people have commented about online. Our camera was purchased used off of Craigslist, and wasn't under warranty, so there was nothing we could do about the tiny little red dot that's in every shot of the movie. Watching the movie in standard definition, it isn't an issue, but in HD it is noticeable in some shots.

I've already removed the pixel from any shots in which it could be distracting from the first 20 minutes of the movie. Hopefully by the end of this weekend I will finish fixing the rest of the movie. I should have the issue resolved and the "fixed" version of the movie up on the Vimeo page within a week.

PS - We may have a big announcement about our next project within the next week as well...
